Completed another portrait in my art journal a few days ago. I’ve really been working on my drawing, proportions and also my watercolor painting of faces and that was this girls only purpose. The techniques I learned for this girl are new for me and challenging but closer to what I have been chasing and where I want to go . Watercolors are so challenging but so amazing to me. You can do so many different things and different techniques and I am enjoying learning and painting and discovering what I can do with them. I have already drawn a few more since learning these new skills and will continue to paint and stay here. I feel comfortable here and going to stay here awhile.
My current work in progress. I have been learning new techniques and can’t seem to let go of that at the moment. That is what is going into my current work. There are quite a few drawings not portrait related that I want to paint but am stuck on this at the moment. It’s very rewarding to see myself get closer to what I am after. I wish I could just let certain things go and not make it so hard but am also learning that this quest and desire to reach for things makes me grow. This is all watercolor at the moment and I have been challenging myself to do more of this recently.
Beauty and the Beast. This is not the first time I have painted them but wanted a darker version. This is one of my favorite stories, I may paint one every year. This painting is created from watercolors and Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers and is available by clicking here.
It’s May and that means it’s Mer-May. A month dedicated to Mermaids! This one is my favorite, she is called Star Gazing Mermaid. This is the first painting using my peerless watercolors by Jane Davenport!
I have been fascinated with this medium for quite some time. I purchased everything needed over a year ago. I tried to create some beautiful patterns of my own and failed miserably. Fast forward and a year later, here are my first Alcohol Ink Flowers. They are so challenging but also so fun to make. These flowers are for sale and available as a print from my website or by clicking the link.
This is my latest work in progress and I’m loving the process. She is created from watercolors and mostly mermaid markers. These mermaid markers by Jane Davenport use to scare me so much but not there is just something so rewarding and amazing when I use them to create. I love watching the colors blend and it can be done so many different ways. I love watercolors so much and creating this way, it brings out the little girl in me who loves to play in the water. When I think back a year ago of how I wanted to use these and how I am using them now, I am so glad I pushed through all those ugly phases and continued working with them. She is not completed and is a work in progress but I can already see what she is becoming and am excited to continue the process and play in the colors!!
